In an industry that harbours a potential Health & Safety problem Vivid Construction continually monitor methods and procedures that reduce the risk of danger and accidents. The company regard the promotion of Health & Safety measures as an objective for management, employees and subcontractors of Vivid Construction Ltd.

In order to receive constructive feedback about potentially dangerous occurrences or hazardous conditions Vivid Construction Ltd adopt a proactive reporting system that does not appoint blame, but promotes change.

Safety Management in Vivid Construction Ltd

Introduction

We always ensure the necessary resources are available for all contracts with regards to Health and Safety, as it is an equal part of our day to day business. This is now available online with our customer service management system.

Safety Policy
A copy of the Company’s Health and Safety Policy Statement is available online.

Responsibility for Safety

Incidents
All personnel are required to report all incidents including near misses and those that do not result in injury. The reporting procedure is detailed in the Safety Manual and in information distributed throughout the company.

All incidents are investigated by managers/supervisors and recommended action is reviewed by the Directors, Safety Manager and at Safety Meetings. Key issues are discussed and information is publicised as widely as possible. Where necessary, procedures are updated, to prevent recurrence.

Safety Committee
Safety meetings are held quarterly and consider policy and performance, reviewing any Safety Incidents, new legislation and other relevant items.

Safety Documentation
The Company Safety Manual has been prepared and is updated and amended as necessary. Copies are available online through our Customer Service Management System and can be viewed at any time. It comprises 3 Sections.
• Policy Statement
• Organisation and Personal Responsibilities
• Safety Arrangements

Each contract has a site specific and continually evolving Site Safety File, which contains various documentation, including the following:
• Risk Assessments
• Method Statements
• COSHH Assessments
• Manual Handling Assessments
• Vibration Assessments

Safety Inspection
Site and office inspections are carried out by The Building Safety Group. Site inspections are usually at approximately 2/3 week intervals and Office inspections are annually. Reports are made out to highlight good practice and areas requiring improvement, which is then acted on as required.

COSHH
Assessments are undertaken and recorded for all materials and processes undertaken by the company. These assessments are produced to comply with the COSHH Regulations and are reviewed on a continuing basis and adapted to suit individual situations and materials.

Safety Training
Vivid Construction Ltd undertakes extensive training of its staff to ensure they are competent and capable of carrying out their duties. All operatives and managers have or are working towards CSCS cards.

Subcontractors
Persons or companies working on behalf of Vivid Construction Ltd are assessed for their competence prior to work commencement. Risk assessments and Method statements are required prior to their commencement on site. These must be known and understood by all personnel involved with their work.

Risk Assessments
Risk Assessments are carried out for each operation/contract Vivid Construction Ltd undertakes. These are supplemented Method Statements when required to ensure the work is carried out safely.

Method Statements
Method Statements are produced to provide detailed information to carry out tasks, some where work must be done in sequence to ensure safety. These are written, produced and passed on to those involved in the specific work by Line Management. Method Statements are produced when the risk assessment dictates or clients specifically ask.

Plant and Equipment
All plant and equipment owned by Vivid Construction Ltd is checked, serviced, maintained, inspected and recorded as required by legislation (such as PUWER and LOLER) and manufacturers recommendations, which includes PAT testing of electrical equipment. Hired in plant and equipment is treated in the same manner.

With land prices and building costs at an all time low, it is generally assumed that prices have bottomed out. Shrewd property investors have identified this and are buying land, building out and renting out until the market picks up. Vivid Construction has developed a business model to service these property investors and private clients:

Construction Project Management

Property Development Finance

Design and Build

Buy To Let Tenant Occupancy

Construction Project Management

The project is not just about managing the building phase but from inception, to land acquisition, to development finance, to actually placing quality long term tenants.

Development Finance

Even in today’s credit crunch Vivid Construction will and has successfully sourced development finance through our partners at rates that make the project viable. Vivid Construction will provide a full development appraisal including Profit and Loss, Cash flow and Payment Schedules in a format that is preferred by the lenders.

Design and Build

Innovative solutions during the design stage play an important part in being able to secure quality tenants at the completion. By using our in-house designed Project Management System clients are able to monitor, on the Internet, the progress of their project, allowing access to their project 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Constantly monitoring costs Vivid Construction are able to fix the price of the build.

Buy To Let Tenant Occupancy

Through the planning and design stages great importance is placed on planning for this final stage. Vivid Construction, through its network of letting agents, will source and place quality long term tenants and will be responsible for tenants throughout the 5 Year Plan.
